The question I ask myself on any stop in my career path is, "Will what I do here make a difference?" At the end of the day "Can I feel satisfied that in some small way, a person, an office, a community or the world at large has moved one tiny step forward because I cared?"
Ideally, stepping into a newly created position is what excites me most. Like the potential of a blank piece of paper, it serves to ignite new ideas and creativity resulting in measurable success.
My personal life passions are to do what is in my power to help diminish the devastating effects of hunger and homelessness. When a job allows for both the tekkie and social justice sides of me to meet, that is where I am most happy.
Some of the jobs I have held were newly created positions, some I personally widened the job description by what I put into it to forge new ground.
